“I create textile assemblages that respond to the human need to feel more connected to nature, a sensation known as “biophilia.” Using fabric as a material for collage, I create textured portals into a playful, whimsical, and bright garden realm. These soft fabric sculptures aim to immerse the viewer with the sensual comforts and respite of gardens, bringing flora into the home. I hope that my work can display a vibrant love of nature, while creating a sanctuary for myself and others to enjoy.”
As a daughter to parents who are farmers, landscape architects, a midwife and sculpture artist, she developed a life-long love for living in harmony with the land and its processes. Gardens and nature continue to be her overflowing inspiration for constructing, coloring, and imitating the flora, and insects in fabric that can be found from observing closely.
When Molly is out of the studio, she is cooking, baking, hiking with her husband Rob and son Augustus, experimenting with natural dyes like a witch brewing, and cuddling with her cat Sterling.
