Botanical Silk Scarf
Botanical Silk Scarf
Each silk scarf is unique, using collected leaves and flowers gathered from my local New England neighborhood. I am printing on 100% silk Habotai, 8 mm, hand-rolled hem. I use only natural dyes extracted from plants, some purchased, and some grown in my garden.
My technique is a process of unlocking pigments and tannins in the botanical material. I follow centuries-old techniques of dyeing fabric with natural dyes and combine them with the more contemporary method of botanical printing with leaves, stems, and flowers.

Hand-wash your silk scarf in warm water or use the delicate cycle in your washing machine. Use a detergent designed for delicate fabrics such as Woolite, Eucalyptus laundry detergent, or Olive soap. Wash with like-colored items. Iron when a scarf is still damp on the high setting with steam on.
