Homegrown
This watercolor is part of my “Homegrown” series that catalogs the growing season of flowers I photograph on the daily walks with my first newborn son, Augie, in my Arlington, MA neighborhood in 2024.
These flowers bring me joy and mark the time of early motherhood. I would watercolor these flowers back in my studio while my son sat on my lap or napped. Within these softly painted flowers, I feel the tender growth of my newborn son and the rawness of my emotions as I transition into my new artist and mother role.
